Craftsmanship with heart
At ASA Selection, modern design meets traditional craftsmanship – and all this in a place that stands for quality and passion like no other: Portugal. For more than three decades, we have considered it a matter of course to produce our products, whose designs are created in our in-house development department in the Westerwald region, in small family businesses in Portugal. Our years of close collaboration secures these people's livelihoods. At the same time, we benefit from the decades of expertise of Portuguese manufacturers – a hallmark of quality that you can feel in every one of our products.
Everything starts with shaping the mass:
It is carefully poured into hand-modeled molds, pressed, or thrown and modeled on the potter's wheel. Using a sponge and a skilled hand, casting seams are then removed, rough spots smoothed, and each surface refined to a level that is both visually pleasing and tactile.
After the first firing, the raw piece becomes a work of art. With great care and sensitivity, it is glazed and decorated.
After many hours, during which the kiln is heated to well over 1100 degrees Celsius for the glaze firing and then slowly cooled, the finished product is sent to the quality control department. Anything that fails is uncompromisingly discarded.
This creates unique pieces that combine sensuality and timeless beauty.
